Units responded to a residence on Forestview Drive reference a Domestic Violence. While officers were enroute to the call, dispatch advised that the adult female caller said her husband had a knife and was threatening her and her daughter. Once on scene Ptl. Spoores spoke to all parties involved and it was determined that Stephanie Heugel was arguing with her fourteen year old daughter during the day which upset Stephanie’s husband. According to Stephanie’s daughter and her husband, Stephanie and her daughter were arguing in the garage and Stephanie pulled/pushed over a small shelving unit and tool boxes down in front of her daughter and told her that she wasn’t going to live and that she was doing to kill her. Stephanie then left the garage and shut the door. Moments later she returned with a knife sharpener and threw it at her daughter and pushed some bikes over in front of her. Stephanie then left the garage again. She came back with a large wielding kitchen knife and continued to make threats. Stephanie’s husband was able to restrain her and was able to get the knife away from her. Stephanie then went into the kitchen and called the police. Stephanie Huegel was placed under arrest for Domestic Violence and Felonious Assault.

Ptl. Jones observed a Ford Taurus pass by with a loud exhaust on Liberty Avenue. Ptl. Jones ran the plate and which showed the owner under suspension. A leads image was pulled up of the owner and the description matched the driver. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver Billie Jo Balmert was cited for Driving Under Suspension.

Ptl. Holmes conducted a traffic stop in the area of Liberty Avenue and Minnie Wawa Street on a vehicle that made two lane changes without signaling the lane change. The driver was identified as Jeffrey Parker (age 45 Vermilion) and he was found to be under a license suspension. Parker was issued a citation for Driving Under Suspension and a Turn Signal Violation.

Ptl. Holmes and Ptl. Shupe responded to a residence on Liberty Avenue reference property damage. The home owner advised that an unknown vehicle pulled into his driveway and tore down the power lines leading from the telephone pole to the residence. First Energy was contacted.

All units were dispatched to an injury accident on Liberty Avenue in front of Quaker Steak. Upon arrival, Ptl. Mis observed that there were three vehicles involved and received information that the driver of the third vehicle, may have been under the influence of alcohol. Ptl. Mis made contact with that driver. She was talking on her cell phone and refused to hang up. She kept turning away as if she was trying to conceal her face. She finally hung up and was asked if she had been drinking. The female then began yelling at Ptl. Mis and he was able to detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage. The EMT’s also were able to smell alcohol on or about the female. Due to the possible injuries from the traffic crash, the hospital gave her a blood test. Under investigation.

Officers responded to a father/son domestic on Liberty Avenue. Ptl. Cundari met with all parties involved and it was determined that the father and son got into a verbal argument that led to a shoving match. Neither party wanted to press charges.

Units were dispatched to the Village Inn in reference to a domestic. Upon further investigation, it was determined that a domestic had not occurred, but the complainant had concerns about the suspect’s mental health.

Chief Kish spoke with a subject reference threats and non payment for services rendered. Chief Kish spoke to the suspect and he was advised to leave the complainant alone.

Sgt. Davis met with a subject reference a possible entry into a residence on Short Street. The home is for sale and while the complainant was checking on it, she was approached by a neighbor who said he saw two men inside the house. Sgt. Davis and the complainant entered the home to see if anything looked disturbed. Sgt. Davis spoke to a possible suspect and he advised he was not there. The neighbor called back and also advised it was not who he thought it was. It is unknown who the two men were.

Dispatch received a call from a resident on Overlook reference drug items that were located in her daughter’s room. Ptl. Mis and Ptl. Terry met with the caller and she showed them two small vase containers with dirt and marijuana seeds inside. The items were placed into evidence. The Lorain County Detention Center was also advised.

Ptl. Graham was dispatched to the Vermilion High School reference a theft. The complainant advised that while she was at a volleyball game someone took her daughter’s brown cloth Coach purse. A message was left for the school resource officer to review surveillance footage.

Ptl. Graham was dispatched to a residence on Mornington reference property damage. Upon arrival, the complainant advised that someone had spray painted the side of his house.

Ptl. Mis and Ptl. Terry were dispatched to a residence on West River Road reference a Burglary. Under investigation.

Ptl. Reising responded to South Street in response to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Ptl. Reising spoke with all involved parties. Both parties were sending harassing and threatening text messages to each other. They were both advised to leave each other alone.

Ptl. Howell initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle that went left of center and no tail lights. The driver was identified as John Schellhouse (age 56 Vermilion) and he appeared confused and disoriented. Ptl. Howell requested Schellhouse’s driver’s license but he was unable to remove it from his wallet. Ptl. Howell helped him. There was also an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Schellhouse was given the standardized field sobriety tests and did not pass. Schellhouse was taken to the station and submitted to a breath test giving a result of .190. Schellhouse was transported to the Lorain County Jail.
0204:
Units were dispatched to a residence on Claus Road in response to a 911 hang up. Dispatch advised that there was a female on the line who said she needed the police and then a struggle took place. Upon arrival, units met with the neighbors and they advised that Kimberly Miller (age 47 Vermilion) and John Hall (age 28 Lorain) were fighting and then left the area. Approximately one hour later the neighbor called back and said that they had returned. When units returned, they found Miller’s vehicle parked in the drive with the driver’s side window shattered. Officer’s made contact with Kimberly Miller at her door. She told officers that she had gotten into an argument with Hall and then dropped him off at his house. While she was talking to officers, Miller was shaking and nodding her head to let officers know that Hall was in the house. Miller also had bruises and cuts on her arm that were still bleeding. Hall was located and placed under arrest. Officers then asked Miller what happened. Miller told officers that Hall was just released from jail and they have been living together for five days. Miller said that Hall would not let her out of his sight since he has been out. The fight started because Miller went to visit her mother. Hall started pushing Miller and then started choking her. Miller said she ran outside and locked herself in the vehicle. Hall then punched the window causing it to shatter. Hall then yanked Miller out of the car and dumped her purse on the ground. Hall then got into the vehicle and backed up over her left shin and repeatedly told her to get in the car or she would regret it. Miller got into the vehicle and Hall drove her to Lorain. They then returned back to her residence on Claus Road. John Hall was charged with Domestic Violence F3 (Hall has 2 prior Domestic Violence convictions in the past 5 years) and Criminal Mischief. Hall was transported to the Lorain County Jail.

The Vermilion Fire Department was toned out for a car smoking on SR 2. An officer arrived on scene and it was determined that the vehicle overheated. The Vermilion Fire Department was cancelled.
1548:
Ptl. Jones was dispatched to the area of Liberty Avenue and Sunnyside Road reference a subject riding a bicycle that appeared intoxicated. The subject was located and he was observed weaving into the road almost striking a vehicle. Ptl. Jones met with the subject, Albert Pruchinski and he was immediately able to smell alcohol on his breath. Pruchinski was placed under arrest and taken to the station for a breath test. Pruchinski provided a breath sample of .257 grams. Pruchinski was charged with OVI, Reckless Operation and was released to a sober party.

2011:
Ptl. Mis met with a female on station reference a physical domestic that took place at her home. The complainant stated that she and her husband were arguing over some pictures. The complainant said that her husband then pushed her down and then pushed his knee against the left side of her head, while continuing to hold her down. He also slapped her in the face. The complainant did not want officers to speak to her husband, she just wanted a report.

Ptl. Holmes conducted a traffic stop on Liberty Avenue in front of Dewey Furniture for a defective exhaust violation. The driver was identified as Jesse Mckissick Jr (age 46 Elyria) and he immediately admitted that his license was under suspension. A check through LEADS confirmed that Mckissick was under suspension and also that he had a warrant through Sheffield Village Police. While conducting a search of the vehicle, Ptl. Holmes located an unmarked pill bottle with marijuana inside, several empty plastic baggie corners, and marijuana residue on the carpet and seats. Mckissick was issued a citation for Driving Under Suspension (3rd offense in 6 years) and Possession of Marijuana.

Ptl. Shupe was dispatched to a residence on Riverside Drive for a suicidal female. The female made a couple threats to other people about shooting herself. Units made contact with the female and she was highly intoxicated and first stated that everything was ok. The female later opened up and said that she did say she was going to shoot herself.

Cpl. Riggs met with a complainant reference a lost wallet. The complainant was advised a report would be on file.
2138:
Ptl. Holmes responded to 460 Nantucket for the report of threats made to the complainant. The complainant stated that the suspect had come to the apartment and was knocking on the door wanting to fight. Ptl. Holmes contacted the suspect on the phone and he was given a trespass warning and advised to have no further contact with the complainant.

Ptl. Holmes responded to a residence on Altamont for the report of a Burglary. The complainants advised that he and his brother returned home and found that the back door was kicked in and caused damage to the interior of the house. The suspects put several holes in the walls and shattered a mirror with a table lamp. The suspects also ripped the wiring from their 27 inch television and stole a bicycle from the backyard.

Ptl. Shupe was advised of a missing juvenile from Mentor on the Lake. The mother believed her son was staying at a residence on Douglas Street. Ptl. Shupe checked the residence and located the juvenile. The juvenile was released to his mother.
2038:
Ptl. Holmes observed a trash can in the middle of Liberty Avenue and also observed three subjects walking in the area. While Ptl. Holmes was moving the trash can, the subjects started to walk past. Ptl. Holmes identified the three males from previous contacts and that also observed that one subject, Ryan Zander (age 24 Vermilion) appeared extremely intoxicated. Zander walked up to Ptl. Holmes and wanted to know what he was doing. Zander was asked what he was doing and where he was going. Zander he could not keep his balance. Zander was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication. While searching Zander, Ptl. Holmes located a marijuana pipe. Zander was placed into the back of car 814 to be transported to the station. While in the vehicle, Zander stated that he was on probation. While in the back Zander moved handcuffed arms around to the front of his body and started to become belligerent and uncooperative. Zander also told Ptl. Holmes, “You should come down to VOL and I’ll show you how bad I can be”. While in the booking room Zander began spitting all over the booking room and became more belligerent and verbally abusive towards officers. Zander was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct Intoxicated/Persisting, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Criminal Mischief for spitting in the booking room. Zander was released to his mother.

Ptl. Howell observed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign at the intersection on South Street at Exchange Street. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Joshua Mouser (age 22 Vermilion). While exiting the vehicle Mouser began to reach under the driver’s seat and said that he was looking for his wallet. Ptl. Howell told Mouser that he was concerned that he was reaching for a weapon. Mouser then told Ptl. Howell that he had several knives in the vehicle. While searching the vehicle Ptl. Howell located several pills and when Mouser was asked about them he said he did not have a prescription. Mouser was charged with Possession of Drugs, Stop Sign, and Motor Vehicle Stop Lights.

Cpl. Gleason met with a complainant on station reference threats. The complainant stated that she was in a confrontation with her ex-husband’s girlfriend while she was dropping off her children. The complainant said that confrontation was verbal but involved threats of physical harm. The complainant requested a report as she was interested in a restraining order.

Ptl. Graham was dispatched to a residence on Guilford Road reference an injury. The complainant said that while his two year old son was playing in the driveway he fell on a landscape tie with a rebar peg protruding. The complainant said that his landlord has been warned about the dangers of such items around the property and has done nothing. The complainant was advised to contact the building department.

Chief Kish and Ptl. Graham encountered a subject standing along Liberty Avenue. His legs were covered in dry mud and he stated that he was trying to find his car and his daughter. He seemed extremely confused and disoriented and in need of psychiatric help. Them male stated that he lived on Oak Point Road but could not give an exact address. The male was given a ride to the area of Oak Point Road but was still unable to find his house. The male was taken to the hospital.

A parent came on station reporting an adult female purchasing alcohol and allowing juveniles to party in her residence.

Cpl. Grassnig met with several subjects’ reference harassment and threats. The complainant stated that her ex boyfriend keeps texting/calling her and is now making threats to her and her family. On this date, the ex boyfriend wanted a sweatshirt back and told the complainant that if he did not get it, he was going to shoot up her house. The ex boyfriend then apologized. The ex boyfriend then made more threats via text message about shooting up the house. A short time later the ex boyfriend showed up at the residence and took the sweatshirt. He also made threats towards another subject at the residence. The ex boyfriend attempted to punch a family member, but was unsuccessful. The family member then punched the ex boyfriend until he went to the ground. The ex boyfriend left and said that he would be back with his friends. The complainants did not want to file any charges. Cpl. Grassnig contacted the ex boyfriend and he denied everything.

The complainant stated that while he was away for the weekend his pool ladder had been broken off of its mounts and that three lawn chairs, a rug, and a cleaning pole were tossed into the pool puncturing the lining. Ptl. Spoores met with a complainant on station reference harassment. The complainant stated that he and his ex wife got into an argument on Monday. On Tuesday, the complainant’s ex wife pulled their daughter out of class to discuss it. The ex wife also called the school and had their daughter leave class again to discuss the argument. The complainant requested a report to take to family court.

Ptl. Shupe was dispatched to Sweetbriar Road and Memory Lane reference a found bicycle. The bicycle is a boys 24 inch mountain bike. The bicycle is blue in color and is a Rhino Outreach.

Ptl. Holmes observed a vehicle with dark tinted windows traveling on Liberty Avenue at the intersection of Vermilion Road. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as David Anderson (age 34 Vermilion). When asked for a consent search, Anderson said that he had a marijuana pipe in the vehicle. Anderson was asked to exit the vehicle. Ptl. Holmes located a wooden club that had been concealed next to the driver’s seat. The club was sharpened at one end and had black tape running from one end to the other. Also located in the vehicle were five separate small bags of marijuana and two loose marijuana “buds”. Anderson was issued a citation for Carrying a Sealed Weapon, Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and Trafficking in Drugs.

Dispatch received a call from an employee at International Café stating that the kitchen break was on fire. The fire department was toned out. Another employee called back and said that there was no fire and to cancel the fire department. The fire department was advised.

Ptl. Terry was dispatched to Helen Drive regarding a vehicle on the railroad tracks. The vehicle was within approximately ten feet of the tracks and was teetering on the embankment. The driver said that he could not exit Helen Drive and he saw another vehicle exit by following the tracks west. The driver said that his vehicle became difficult to maneuver and that’s how he got stuck. The driver Nathan Strawderman (age 34 Elyria) was arrested for Trespassing on Railroad Property.

Ptl. Holmes conducted a traffic stop on Ferndale Road. The driver was identified as Cory Hensley (age 19 Vermilion) and he was found to be under suspension. Hensley was given a citation for Driving Under Suspension/Drug Offense Suspension. Hensley still has two previous charges for Driving Under Suspension in Vermilion Municipal Court. This will be Hensley’s third charges for DUS in the past three months. The vehicle was towed.

This department was notified by Lorain County Children’s Services of a possible sex offense involving a fourteen year old female and a twenty-one year old male. An interview has been set up at the Nord Center.

Sgt. Chandler met with a complainant at the car wash. The complainant said that he was driving past the car wash and a small child standing along the roadway threw a rock at his vehicle. There was damage to his vehicle and the child’s mother said she would pay for it. Sgt. Chandler met with the six year old child and his mother. The mother was not aware that her child was standing by the road or that he was throwing rocks. Sgt. Chandler spoke to the child about the dangers of what he was doing and he seemed to understand and agreed not to throw rocks again.

Ptl. Terry was dispatched to a residence on Sweetbriar Drive regarding a vandalism complaint. The complainant stated that someone “egged” his 1994 Tempo.

Ptl. Howell conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had no license plate illumination on Liberty Avenue. The driver was identified as Guy Bolyard (age 25 Elyria) and his driving record revealed that he had two previous suspensions for drug offenses. Ptl. Howell was given consent to search the vehicle. Upon checking the vehicle, Ptl. Howell located three burnt “roach” marijuana cigarettes, three marijuana seeds, and several pieces of marijuana stems. Bolyard was charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Ptl. Howell conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for weaving and speeding on Vermilion Road. The driver was identified as Tracey Goodwin (age 46 Avon). Goodwin appeared to be disoriented and initially did not speak to Ptl. Howell. When asked for his proof of insurance, Goodwin handed Ptl. Howell his vehicle registration. Goodwin’s eyes were bloodshot and when he did speak, his speech was slurred. Goodwin was given the field sobriety tests and did not pass. Goodwin was placed under arrest and take to the station for a breath test. Goodwin did not provide a sufficient breath sample to produce a test result. Goodwin was charged with OVI/refusal and Left of Center in a No Passing Zone.

Ptl. Graham was dispatched to North Ridge Road reference property damage. The complainant stated that there was a hole in his west early front bay window and a crack in his easterly bay window. The complainant stated that he heard the sound of glass breaking last night, but assumed someone was throwing a bottle onto the street.

All units were dispatched to the area of 350 Salem Drive for the report of a fight in progress. Ptl. Holmes arrived on scene and spoke to the victim and several witnesses including the suspect’s girlfriend. Ptl. Holmes was advised that the suspect, identified as Christopher Dalton (age 32 Vermilion) came home intoxicated and got into an argument with his girlfriend. The girlfriend left and went to a friend’s apartment. Dalton then went to that apartment to talk to her. Dalton got into an argument with a male at that apartment, but it was broken up by the other witnesses. The victim and Dalton left and met up in the parking lot. The victim stated that Dalton shoved him and hit him in the head. The victim did not want medical attention. Dalton was later located hiding in a bedroom closet and was taken into custody. Dalton said that he was not drinking and agreed to take a portable breath test. He gave a sample reading of .157. After that, Dalton said that he had been drinking and admitted to getting into an argument with his girlfriend and that he did confront the victim in the parking lot. Dalton was arrested for Disorderly Conduct while Intoxicated and Obstructing Official Business. Dalton was released to his mother.

Units were dispatched to Bridgeport for the report of an attempted Burglary. Once on scene, officers were advised that an unknown suspect(s) attempted to break the sliding glass door with a flower pot. The suspect(s) did not gain entry and fled the area. Under investigation.

Units were dispatched to an alarm call at Martino’s International Café. Upon arrival, the drive thru window was broken. The kitchen area was ransacked and the cash drawer appeared to be missing. Under investigation.

Chief Kish responded to Salem Drive reference a semi truck trying to get out. The driver of the truck said he got misplaced and was trying to turn around. The driver accidently struck a low hanging branch and caused it to snap off.

Sgt. Chandler and Ptl. Shupe met with a resident on South Street reference a Burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered his house today, but doesn’t think anything was taken. Under investigation.

Ptl. Holmes met with two complainants on station regarding a harassment and criminal mischief complaint. The complainants stated that after someone they know was arrested on a Vermilion warrant, they started receiving harassing phone calls and were accused of turning the subject in. The complainants were given a complaint packed and referred to the prosecutor for charges.

While conducting stationary traffic patrol on Douglas Street and Devon Drive, Ptl. Mis observed a white truck speeding. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as John Kelley (age 15 Vermilion). When asked for his information, Kelley stated that he did not have a license, only a temporary permit. A check through LEADS showed that Kelley was also under an administrative suspension. Kelley was charged with Speed, Driving Under Suspension, and Temporary Permit without a licensed driver.

All units were dispatched to a residence on Bryant Drive reference Domestic Violence. Upon arrival, the female was located and advised that she had been arguing with her husband and he struck her repeatedly in the face and head. The victim’s injuries were photographed. She had a swollen, bloody lip, scratches on her shoulder, and was complained of a head ache. Randall Brooket (age 56 Vermilion) was charged with Domestic Violence.

Cpl. Grassnig observed two males and a female get out of a vehicle at Speedway. One male went behind the building and urinated. All subjects got in the vehicle and left. Cpl. Grassnig followed the vehicle. The vehicle pulled into a residence that it did not belong to. Cpl. Grassnig met with the driver Blake Jardonek (age 19 Sheffield Lake) and the two passengers Angela Luebke (age 16 Avon Lake) and Jesse Jardonek (age 17 Avon Lake). All three smelled of alcoholic beverages. Ptl. Holmes arrived and administered portable alcohol tests to all three. All three tested positive for alcohol consumption. After Ptl. Holmes gave Jesse the test he began to escort him to the patrol car. Jesse ripped away from Ptl. Holmes and began to run. Ptl. Holmes caught up with Jesse and took him to the ground. Ptl. Holmes observed a vehicle in the Harbortown Animal Clinic. The driver was identified as Michael Woljevach (age 18 Wakeman). While speaking to the driver, Ptl. Holmes was able smell the odor of burnt Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Woljevach gave Ptl. Holmes permission for a search of the vehicle. A large multi colored glass pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana was located underneath the driver’s seat. Also located inside the vehicle was another marijuana pipe, a marijuana “grinder”, and a plastic baggie containing marijuana. Woljevach was charged with Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana.

Officers met with the complainant who stated that she was driving down the road and was unable to get through because there were several neighbors standing in the middle of the road. The complainant told the subjects to move and said that one of the subjects threw a rock at her vehicle. According to the other subjects involved, the complainant’s daughter got out of the vehicle and threw coffee on them. All subjects involved were advised that a report would be on file.

Ptl. Holmes conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding. The driver was identified as Kathryn Tollett (age 36 Vermilion). Tollett immediately became upset and started crying. Tollett was found to be under two different suspensions and also found to have an active warrant from Sheffield Village. Tollett was charged with Driving Under Suspension, Excessive Speed, and was released to Sheffield Village on her warrant.

Dispatch received a call of a possible drunk driver leaving the VOL area in a red truck. Ptl. Spoores located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Elzie Yates (age 67 South Amherst). Ptl. Spoores immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. Yates stated that he had a couple drinks. Yates was given the field sobriety tests and did not pass. Yates was placed under arrest and his vehicle was towed. While searching the vehicle Ptl. Shupe located a can of Busch Light. Yates was charged with OVI and released to a friend.

Ptl. Shupe and Sgt. Chandler were dispatched to Quaker Steak and Lube reference a voyeurism complaint. Upon arrival, Sgt. Chandler was advised by an employee that there was a male subject in the woman’s restroom looking under the stall. The male was identified as Angelo Collado (age 34 Vermilion) and was charged with Voyeurism and transported to the Erie County Jail. Collado was also found to be a registered sexual predator for Attempted Rape 1994, and Voyeurism, and Criminal Tools in 2008.

Upon arrival, the complainant was advised by his landlord that, that his ex-live in girlfriend climbed through a window and was removing items from the residence. The complainant came home and found several items missing from the residence. Contact was made with the suspect and she stated that she only took items that belonged to her. A citizen complaint packet was filled out and both parties were referred to the prosecutor.

Holmes located the vehicle and identified the driver as Marcus Hall (age 33 Lorain) and the passenger as Waylon Hall (age 30 Lorain). Waylon gave a fake name at first. Marcus was found to be under suspension and a crack pipe was located in Waylon’s pants pocket. Waylon admitted that the pipe was used to smoke crack. Marcus was cited for Driving Under Suspension and Waylon was charged with Possession of a Drug Abuse Instrument.

Cpl. Mayer met with the Sailorway Principal in reference to a student who possibly had a knife. The 12 year old student had a knife hidden in her underwear. She was suspended for ten days with the recommendation for expulsion.

Cpl. Mayer met with the Sailorway Principal reference threats made by a student. The student had been caught with two disturbing notes. The subject was given detention for his behavior.

Units were dispatched to a residence on Woodside Road reference domestic violence. The female complainant stated that she and her child’s father, Jared Byrd (age 28 Willard), got into an argument about the Byrd getting the keys to her vehicle. The female threw her keys outside and when Byrd went to get them, she locked the door. Byrd then broke the window to the door and unlocked it. The female complainant locked herself and her children in the bathroom until police arrived. Byrd had a cut on his right hand. Byrd was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Mischief.

Ptl. Holmes observed a vehicle weaving and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Liberty Avenue and Overlook Boulevard. The driver was identified as Bryan Bockwich (age 29 Vermilion). Bockwich told Ptl. Holmes that his driver’s license was suspended. A check through LEADS confirmed this and showed that it was an FRA suspension. Bockwich was issued a citation for Driving Under Suspension.

Ptl. Graham, Ptl. Holmes, and Lt. Labis were dispatched to Route 2 reference a vehicle roll over. The vehicle was found to be resting upside down at the edge of a tree line on the south side of Route 2. The driver was identified as William Hunt (age 24 Vermilion). Ptl. Holmes and the EMT’s were able to detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Hunt. Hunt submitted to a blood draw. Charges are pending per the completion of the investigation.

An officer met with a complainant on station reference fraud. The complainant stated that three withdrawals were taken from her savings account from an unknown company online. The bank put a fraud alert on her account and a report was filed.

Cpl. Mayer met with the high school assistant principal reference threats. The suspect told the victim that he was doing to kill him and smash his face into the pavement. The suspect was suspended out of school for ten days and charged with aggravated menacing.

Ptl. Graham was dispatched to a residence on North Ridge Road reference a damaged mailbox. Ptl. Graham met with the driver and the owner of the mailbox. The driver agreed to pay for the damages.

Ptl. Miller conducted a traffic stop in the area of Liberty Avenue and Vermilion Road. The driver, Dewey Tomblin (age 48 Sheffield Lake), was found to be under suspension. Tomblin was cited for Driving Under Suspension and his vehicle was towed.

Ptl. Reising conducted a traffic stop near Romps on a vehicle for expired plates. The driver, Michael Mankin was found to be under suspension. Michael Mankin was charged with Driving Under Suspension and No Seat Belt. Michael Mankin’s passenger Brandon Mankin was also cited for No Seat Belt.

Ptl. Holmes conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for weaving near Convenient. The driver was identified as Mark Mankin (age 45 Vermilion). Ptl. Holmes was able to smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage while speaking to Mankin. Mankin’s eyes were also bloodshot. Mankin was given the field sobriety tests and did not pass. Mankin was taken to the station and gave a breath sample of .076 grams. Mankin also had a suspended license. Mankin was charged with OVI, Driving Under Suspension and Weaving.

Units were dispatched to the Driftwood Bar for a report of an assault. Ptl. Holmes arrived on scene and met with the victim. The victim stated that she had broken up with her boyfriend, James Burnett (age 27 Vermilion) a couple days ago and that he had been kicked out of the bar earlier in the night. The victim left and started walking to a friend’s across the street. Burnett also lives across the street and as she passed Burnett asked her to talk. The victim went over. After talking to Burnett for a while, the victim decided to leave, but was unable to as Burnett grabbed her from behind and held her in a “bear hug”. The victim said that he would not let her go and then slammed her on the ground. Burnett then grabbed her off the ground from the throat area. The victim was able to get away and run to the bar. Officers spoke to Burnett and he admitted that the argument became physical, but said that it was self defense. Burnett (6’4 tall and 185lbs) stated that the victim (5’0 tall and 85lbs) had grabbed him by the arms and pinched him. Burnett was charged with Abduction and Assault and was taken to the Lorain County Jail.
